IOGINALITY, a digital art platform, recently announced the integration of digital art into urban spaces in Berlin as part of a collaborative event with Kabinet 3,14, a speakeasy bar. This event, held during Art Week Berlin on Friday, September 13, featured digital artworks displayed in public spaces and within the bar, blending urban aesthetics with renowned art pieces.
The event aimed to bridge the gap between traditional gallery spaces and the public by making digital art more accessible. IOGINALITY’s initiative brought notable digital works into unconventional venues, providing new ways for audiences to engage with contemporary art.
Beyond just visual experience
IOGINALITY’s platform collaborates with established art institutions and artists worldwide, making digital art accessible and experimenting with various formats. IOGINALITY exclusively showcases digital works from renowned artists represented in prestigious museums and cultural events like Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, and the Venice Biennale.
“Honestly, it was a challenge for us because we didn’t want just to decorate the walls of a fancy bar with screens and bright but shallow visuals. We aimed to transform the venue into a visually immersive, art-driven experience, bringing grand art pieces into the city’s environment and blurring the boundaries between art which exists in galleries and social spaces, – says IOGINALITY CEO Cathrine Smirnova.
The exhibition, titled “Elements,” was specially curated by IOGINALITY and featured works from three internationally acclaimed artists:
Sofya Skidan (Alisa Gallery Dubai): Showcased her signature aesthetic, currently displayed at the Gwangju Biennale 2024.
Alexander Mrohs (DA Residency): Contributed works previously premiered at the Schwabach Art Biennale.
Aria Vakh (Private Art Collection): Presented pieces featured at the Venice Art Biennale.
IOGINALITY’s innovative approach resulted in a space that defied traditional expectations of what a bar could be, with digital art installations becoming an intrinsic part of its identity.
“Media art is a dynamic and flexible medium that integrates seamlessly into modern spaces. I’m fascinated by how different places can transform through this new lens, offering a thoughtful, museum-like experience,” notes artist Sofya Skidan.
How Real-World Spaces Benefit from Digital Integration
Integrating digital art into Kabinet 3,14 was far from a mere aesthetic choice. For non-digital businesses like Kabinet 3,14, incorporating digital art can have significant benefits:
1. Enhanced Customer Experience: Digital art installations can create immersive and memorable experiences, encouraging repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth.
2. Cultural Relevance: Collaborating with artists and platforms like IOGINALITY can position businesses as culturally relevant and forward-thinking.
3. Adaptability: Digital art installations can be easily updated or changed, allowing businesses to refresh their ambiance regularly without significant renovations.
The bar significantly increased foot traffic and enhanced customer engagement by curating an immersive and visually captivating environment. Passersby, intrigued by the dynamic digital displays, found themselves drawn into the space while patrons lingered longer, interacting with the artwork and sharing their experiences across social media platforms.
Kabinet 3,14’s managing director says, “For a new establishment, the question becomes: How do you cut through the noise, capture the imagination of passersby, and create an experience that not only brings people in but keeps them coming back? The answer was found in the innovative integration of digital art for the newly opened Kabinet 3/14, located in the heart of Berlin.”
The Future of Business and Digital Art
The integration of digital art into everyday spaces marks a shift in how businesses engage with customers. IOGINALITY’s approach reflects a broader trend of incorporating art and technology into public and social environments, offering new opportunities for both artists and businesses. As digital art becomes increasingly integrated into physical spaces, questions around the future of this medium and its impact on public engagement continue to emerge. Regardless of the answer, the merging of digital art with the real world is reshaping how individuals perceive and engage with art, technology, and life itself – blurring the lines between them and transforming experiences in unexpected ways.
